A glass and a half full production

Video Transcript

This film is set at an airport and features those wonderful, quirky trucks that you only ever see at airports.

We open at dusk. In the middle of a purple sky, a title appears: A Glass and a Half Full Production

The camera pans down. Against the setting sun, we see the last plane of the day taking off. We see the empty tarmac runways stretching off into the distance.

We hear the opening phrases of the soundtrack: Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’.

Lights start to reveal funny, quirky trucks that work at the airport. They’re all here: the one with the tall staircase that gets you off the plane, the one with the huge tyres, the one with the long conveyor belt, a tiny one with lots and lots of trailers attached to him, all piled high with suitcases.

The camera lingers on each of the trucks, and we notice that each of them has been slightly pimped. They look shinier than usual, brighter, as if they’ve left behind the dust and chores of the day.

We catch a glimpse of a drill screwing on amazing alloy wheels, gleaming in the darkness; it seems as though all the trucks are awakening for something.

It looks like a fantastic gathering of the best airport trucks on the planet.

As the soundtrack gets louder, the trucks emerge from their hangers. Against the darkness, they turn on their headlights and we see them all; gleaming; glossy; ‘pimped’.

Ready for something special.

We realize they’re all headed in the same direction: past the control tower and towards the long, tarmac, runway.

We finally see them all lined up together, side by side, big and very small. The camera pulls back to reveal they are on a starting line. Ready, for the most marvellous race in history.

As the soundtrack kicks off, a lightning bolt cracks through the night. Engines roar. Tyres are spinning. There’s lots of smoke.

The race has begun.

Adrenaline is pumping. There’s nothing else like it.

The atmosphere is beautifully lid by lights around and on top of the runway. But this is not a race about speed. It’s about fun.
The small orange & white truck tries to slide its way through. We see a V shaped ornament on his bonnet which hints at his confidence. The driver who’s just about in front tries to avoid him, but in an impressive stunt he manages to use the conveyor belt’s ramp to sneak through.

Then it’s the green suitcase carrier’s turn to pull a trick. He snakes his way through the other trucks, making the suitcases he’s carrying spill all over the runway. The other trucks have to maneuver their way around the socks and shirts strewn across the runway, but he doesn’t care, he’s nearing pole position.

The purple truck then uses his own trick to avoid the spilled suitcases, as with a pull of a lever he jumps right over them. We capture it suspended in slow motion: One and a half centimetres from the ground. Wonderful.

This is the most magical race in history. Which one’s going to be the fastest? Which one’s going to conk out? Will they all conk out? Who will make it to the finish line first?

We’ll never know.

The camera pulls back and we see the trucks altogether, heading off into the distance.

We see the Cadbury Dairy Milk pack appear against the sky.

A title appears on-screen: A Glass and a Half Full of Joy.
